Surfers for Autism 2011

Surfers for Autism and Surf Central

3rd Annual Surfers for Autism at Stuart beach was held on Saturday, May 14th 2011 with chest to head high perfect glassy waves.

Surfers for Autism is a non-profit organization ran by Don Ryan which helps children with autism and other special need experience the power of surfing. Surf Central has been a proud sponsor of SFA for all three years it has come to Martin County. With hundreds or kids and volunteers it has become an all day event with raffles, food, games, and parties that has grown more each year.

SFA gets children in the water who would usually never experience the joy and absolute life changing affect surfing has to offer. Some of the kids who surf for the first time at SFA have also spoken their first words on the same day. Surfing is a life changing experience and the kids now get to take part and not only changes their lives but the lives of everyone involved from each of the volunteers to the moms and dads. Even if you don't surf we still ask for everyone to take a day off work and running around to spend the day at the beach and watch a modern day miracle occur. SFA travels up and down the east coast stopping at each county with a large enough parking lot. We hope to see you there next time.
